The client identified the urgent need to improve the efficiency of its current core business processes from order-to-cash. A2D Technologies approached Idea Integration about undertaking an approximate 5-week discovery project to review their business challenges, gain a better understanding of the existing ordering process, and provide a strategic assessment for its improvement. The primary goals of the discovery project are to document the relevant business processes, conduct a functional analysis of the actual business requirements and generate a high-level strategic recommendation that will offer several alternate strategies for streamlining the current process and its’ supporting technology platforms.

Various specialized applications and data models were inherited from acquired companies, with little integration achieved
While production had increased four-fold, the staff responsible for the systems and for accounting had not grown or had grown only incrementally

Idea Activities & Deliverables

Conducted facilitated sessions with client management and staff to document existing workflows, pain-points, technologies, and design issues.
Identified idealized target state in terms of logical workflows, functionality, data modeling and application stack.
Described practical incremental migration steps to the target state, recommending immediate term, near term and longer term process and technology changes in order of benefit relative to effort and risk.
Provided a systematic evaluation of a large number of third-party applications representing candidate components for the overall solution.

Return on Investment

Idea developed an in-depth Strategic Assessment report for A2D that encompassed an analysis of the operational (business process) aspects of the organization as well as a technology evaluation of their environment. This composite assessment provided a multi-year roadmap and migration plan for the customer to utilize in the pursuit of the to-be state recommendation by Idea. The recommendations were intended to provide a platform with which A2D could make decisions to execute in-house or outsource for specialized tasks or speed to “market.”

A2D continues to utilize the roadmap provided by Idea and has requested our services for various pieces of their operational maturity initiative.
