Although Calpine’s Information Services (IS) Process Program was established to support end-to-end process development activities, process development efforts are frequently delayed due to resource availability. In addition, processes that are implemented do not consistently leverage “best-practice” or audit-oriented models, tools, or assessment mechanisms to measure process effectiveness and efficiency. In 2004, regulatory driven initiatives in support of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) highlighted these issues and the subsequent need for process refinement, standardization, and the development of an IS Governance process framework.
Idea Integration conducted an assessment of Calpine’s as-is processes, environment, and tools in order to determine the most appropriate industry best-practice IT Governance process framework to deploy to the customer organization. To fulfill this requirement, Idea’s consulting team generated and compiled the following components into a Strategic Assessment report deliverable:
